Philokalia Choir Presents “A Paschal Trilogy” to Support Southern Lebanese Villages Amid National Challenges
The Philokalia Choir is set to launch “A Paschal Trilogy,” a series of three spiritually and musically inspiring concerts across Lebanon, with a strong focus on solidarity and support for communities affected by hardship in the South. The trilogy opens on March 25 in Aintoura with Stabat Mater Dolorosa by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, performed by the women’s voices of the choir and the youth choir, conducted by Rebecca Youssef. The second concert, “The Son’s Night” (ليل الابن), will take place on April 1 at Saint Paul Basilica in Harissa, featuring the men’s voices of the choir under the direction of S. Marana Saad. The series concludes on April 8 at Mar Estephan Cathedral in Batroun with Membra Jesu Nostri by Dieterich Buxtehude, performed by Hymnos Ensemble led by Fadi Khalil. All proceeds from these concerts will go toward supporting the villages of Rmeish, Debel, and Ain Ebel in Southern Lebanon—communities that continue to face economic and social challenges in the aftermath of past conflicts. By linking art and humanitarian aid, the Philokalia Choir highlights the enduring resilience of southern Lebanese towns, offering hope and concrete support to families affected by instability and the long-lasting effects of war. Through “A Paschal Trilogy,” audiences will experience a fusion of sacred music and meaningful solidarity, demonstrating how culture and compassion can unite communities, even in times of national struggle.
